Christmas Market

The annual Christmas Night & Day Slow Market weekend returns to Stellenbosch this year from Friday 2 December to Saturday December– this time adding fire to the celebration!

THE STELLENBOSCH SLOW MARKET IS CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS IN TRUE SOUTH AFRICAN STYLE WITH A TRADITIONAL BRAAI AND SO MUCH MORE

Christmas will be celebrated in true South African style at the Stellenbosch Slow Market this year on Friday, 02 December and Saturday, 03 December 2016. True to our culture, visitors can expect to enjoy a traditional South African braai, unique local gifts and so much more!

And who better than author of Braai, The Beloved Country, Jean Nel, to ensure that everyone attending enjoys the best that South African cuisine has to offer?

While doing your Christmas shopping, you can expect Jean of Flamed to prepare meals for six (at a price of xxx), or for four (priced at xxx) or even individual meals (at a price o R70) . Meal plates will include chops, braaied sausage, ‘braaibroodjies’ and ‘pap and sous’.

Perfectly complementing his delicious meals will be another South African tradition – trifle – to end off a perfect meal, ensuring that family and friends are spirited in the mood of the festive season. Craft beers as only South Africans can produce will also be on offer to accompany the country’s favourite cuisine.

Then of course, there are a range original gifts on offer for you to shop early for the season, ensuring that your loved ones can expect a thoughtful gift not available elsewhere. These will range from luxury American fudges, Italian nougat, Cape Malay curries, Sterling sliver jewelry, wire art, leather bags, cheeses, Gingerbread houses, artisan home décor, 100% raw organic chocolate, Biltong, handmade clothing, German Christmas biscuits and so much more.

Says Gail Blake, owner of the Stellenbosch Slow Market: “While the rest of the world is suffering with freezing temperatures and snow, what better way to enjoy Christmas than what only South Africa can offer – glorious weather and sunshine, and the perfect conditions to celebrate our unique heritage? Who wants to enjoy a white Christmas when we’ve got the opportunity to celebrate it together under the glorious African sun?”

Christmas lights will turn the Stellenbosch Slow Market into a fairyland and children of all ages can expect Father Christmas to make an appearance for some photo opportunities and “whispers into his ears for what they are wishing for this Christmas”.

Music entertainment will also be provided.

This is one Christmas event you don’t want to miss!
