We will bring to the World the finest and largest selection of the Cape winelands local foods, restaurants, fresh produce, award-winning wines, original design, art and authentic South African entertainment, all in one stop. Spot the green wrapped oak trees... the Oude Libertas is the place to be to enjoy the true celebratory spirit of Africa!
Cuisines of the World - Beat the fest crowds and come to the fresh country oak-lined piazza and vineyards of the Oude Libertas and taste the Cuisines of the World paired with wine selections from the Stellenbosch American Express Wine Routes. Park your car at our Park-and-Ride area and come visit us late into the night after visiting the wine route.
The heated marquee will feature over 40 German, British, European, Chinese, Indian and South African food stands, offering the best of which their countries have to offer. We have brought on new and interesting foods to our already popular mix of market exhibitors to include quail dishes, German liverspreads, lards and brawn, Belgium endives and preparation workshops, Italian sausage, bobotie spring rolls and cinnamon swirls, roasted caramel nuts .. just to mention a few. Apologies to our regular Saturday morning customers for any inconvenience this special event might cause. Our regular market traders will still be attending but we have certainy added more variety and a distinctive difference in our slowmarket offerings. We would appreciate your support and partronage over this weekend.
The main hall will be converted into a fireplaced Ladies Lounge, offering the finest in jewellery, accessories, clothing ranges, ceramics and mosaics. The unique Vintage Antique Collection will be showcased by Sue Langerman and Verbatim Book Store will offer a selection of their finest books in the readers corner. For those who enjoy the finer things in life we have created a peaceful Cuppucino and Sweets lounge offering the true sweet tooth foodies the opportunity to enjoy a range of delicatable offerings. What's more you may attend a free chocolate making workshop with chef Tim Woodford and his team from the Zevenwacht Chef School.
Wine Bar & Sports Lounge - No need to go anywhere when we have brought you the wine routes with a fine selection of wines, champagne, boutique breweries, liquers and a full cocktail bar. Our full on and off liquor licence allows you not only free tastings but to purchase cases at promotional prices. All of this will be presented in the sports bar section where you can sit back and enjoy sport broadcast and the soccer matches on our big screen TV.
Saltare Wine & Food Pairing - Join Carla Pauw winemaker from Saltare who is offering free professional food and wine pairings in the main lounge area. The Hearth Fair will be an African inspired designer market will also be joining us offering the best in craft, design and workmanship that we have to offer. The concept is the brainchild of decor & design editor Retha Ericson which showcases local South African designs, decor stylists, artisans and craftmanship. The collective is drawn from the Cape's top emerging designers as well as members from local community-based projects.
Oude Libertas Art Gallery curated by Ilse Griesel will be offering the Winelands Van-Guard exhibition featuring artists Suzanne Duncan, Kai Lossgott, Jan Vermeiren and Gregory Kerr. This exhibition is made possible by the generous support of Distell Foundation, BASA, City of Cape Town and the WC Department of Economic Development & Tourism. Each with a body of exciting contemporary works they are bringing the art to the attention of international and local tourists.
The exhibition is accompanied with a full colour catalogue featuring the venues spread out through the beautiful Cape Winelands, a keepsake to remind visitors of the Cape and the natural and artistic beauty experienced.
Top Billing will be joining us this weekend to shoot our event live! As the longest-running entertainment and lifestyle television programme in South Africa the leader in lifestyle programming will bring you the best of the good life...The Slowmarket Food and Wine Fair. The Food, wine, decor, design, the destination, we are proud to announce that they will be part of our event. The Afrikaans eventing programme called Fiesta on Kyknet and SABC News will be joining us as well.
